    Free Agent Draft Friday Night!

    Post by TheDarkKnight50 on September 8th 2011, 12:49 am

Through discussions via AIM tonight, with many of the league owners and upon testing initial setup of League Manager, I've decided that we will roll with no salary cap system for at least our first season in Madden 12. This means that for free agency we will be using the previous method in years past of a free agent draft in AIM. We have set up a draft date and time.

Friday night, at 11:00 pm est, 10:00 pm cst. Again, in AIM messenger.

IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CANNOT ATTEND THIS DRAFT, send me a message via PM here on the MESSAGE BOARD stating your positions or players of interest that will be available in free agency Friday night. I can use this as a guide to pick you a player if you aren't present.

If you are not present, and you have not send me a pm on the forum...you will be skipped automatically. We will have 2 rounds. We will be using the draft order from the NFL, as if no trades were made meaning all 32 teams will have a pick in each round. Good luck and happy drafting!

I also wanted to note that after these two rounds of drafting, free agency will be alive though each owner in the league will only be able to sign 1 player per 12 hours. I will have a post set up for these extra fa acquisitions. Once we have an end to this fa will be a free for all.

ALSO A REMINDER TO ALL NEW XML OWNERS...DO NOT SIGN THE PLAYERS YOURSELF, I WILL CONTROL THESE WHEN IT IS TIME TO ADD FREE AGENTS.

Trust me, we discussed for a better part of what seemed like a few hours (may have just seemed that way lol). It's in the best interest of the league right now to go in this direction.

WTF is with the real draft layout of the FA Draft... surely it should be Lowest Rank team to highest rank team... but ok

We're going on prior season's record. The overalls are a skewed system right now due to players moving and ratings not being solidified yet.

How is it skewed? The overalls are directly related to the players on the roster and as of tonight/tomorrow morning when the roster comes out, it will be totally up to date.

Totally up to date doesn't imply the changes to team OVR based on trades that are already in place. The top 5 picks are justified.

Thanks Pat for clarifying that. That is essentially what I meant. This free agent list is pretty deep. Good players will be available through both rounds regardless of draft position. And I seriously doubt anyone would hang their season on that one FA going to them...lol.

Obviously your not in favor Oz, your team over achieved so your pick is worse.

Snake is not a good idea. That makes no sense in the grand scheme of what the FA draft is "intended" for. FA draft is supposed to give the teams with lesser roster "talent" a chance to get better. My humble opinion.

then to give teams with a lesser roster you got to go FA draft based on the new roster update Team OVERALL's or it kinda pointless in my opinion. Actually DK i dont care about my picks... but i know im not the only one thinking that Team Overall is a better way of doing it

I agree with you that the new Team Overall rating should be the basis. I think we are singing the same song. Very Happy However, I'll manage either way we go.

I pick 6th and I have an issue with this ordering system, so whats the reasoning there? Honestly DK I'm just pissed that this has come out of left field with absolutely no discussion. There has been talks for weeks on the blast about how to handle the FA Draft and the general consensus has almost always been to go by Team Overall rankings.

The other thing we should not allow is a FA pickup to be traded until after the first season with that team.

Last night nobody cared, but obviously everyone does now. Should we change the order?

Selfishly speaking... either way, my Cards have a high pick. Rationally speaking... the fairest way would be to make the FA draft order by Team Overalls (post roster update). As always, this is my humble opinion.

We discussed it last night in the aim blast. No one said that the draft order was a problem. SO I said we'd go that route. It didn't come out of left field.
