Ok so here are the guidelines for the 2012 XML offseason free agency. We are going to go with the idea that dannyocean (DET) provided. It makes the most sense from the league stand point. I'll explain myself. The best way to cut players is by the talent on roster, not by success. What if a team such as the Buffalo Bills or Seattle Seahawks goes deep? Should they lose even more valuable players than a team such as the Packers or Patriots if they miss the playoffs? With this method, it'll ensure that the better the team you are the better player you are going to cut. On the flip side, with the free agent draft if you had a bad year you'll get a better player or the same player you cut. You get the choice. So without further or due to remind you here is our method.
Add up the top 20 players on your roster (do not include FB/K/P). Then subtract 100 from that total. You then divide that total by 20. The following is your roster cut number. We do round up if it's a .5. And .4 and lower will round down. Each team must be down to 47 players per team as we head into the rookie draft so that we can make room for the incoming rookies we pick up. SO, I have a master list of each teams cuts. Take a look at your cut requirements and then post in this thread, who your cuts are. I will then cut them myself from the game. To ensure the right players are cut, and to ensure that if an issue arises I'm aware of it. Lastly, for your main cut (the high rated cut) it cannot be a FB/K/P. YOU CAN however (this year to try out) use a player of any age. (Example: Your cut total is 80. You can cut any player rated 80 or higher from your roster as your main cut just cannot be a FB/K/P.)
For your 2nd cut (70-72 OVR) it is dependent upon how you played last season. If you missed the playoffs you will cut a 70+. If you made the playoffs as a wild card matchup you will cut a 71+. If you were a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in either conference (4 teams) you will have to cut a 72+.
ALSO, once you cut your player they are free agents. And they will be available for the free agent draft. Unlike past seasons where your extra cuts could be re-signed. Following the free agent draft, we'll have the thread where you have 12 hours per signing 1 per team. You can then one by one add back players you want if you so choose so. Your late round rookie picks can be released after the rookie draft at which point you cannot sign back old cut free agents.
Here are the team lists...REMEMBER YOU MUST POST THEM (I'LL PROCESS THEM).
