“It is a new season, new beginning, time to kick some ass”---those were the words of GM Betta_ThanU in preparation for the new season ahead. With the hire of new coach, and keeping most of their roster intact thru out the FA period, there is reason to be excited in Oakland.
It is true Nnamdi Asomugha was a big lost, but the team is confident in rookies DeMarcus Van Dyke and Chimdi Chekwa. So is the case that they got rid of last year CBs McFadden and Ware.
“The sky is the limit with these kids” coach Jackson mentioned during the last week of preparation towards the beginning of regular season.
GM Betta was asked by the media across the Bay Area, the reason why the Raiders have been so quiet during this time of high volatility and increase roster trades around the league:
“Chemistry is very important to succeed, I believe that if you practice enough with your current guys, and explore their weakness and strengths and try to improve in those areas, there is no reason to go outside and look for the big name player. There is always a chance to improve here and there, but that will come eventually once team gets a few games under their belt.”
Hopefully GM Betta knows what he is doing, otherwise they might be a change in philosophy and new ways to handle the team. Nevertheless, there are huge expectations for this Raiders team. Word has it that they are out to sweep with their hated AFC West opponents.
There is also a buzz in town that have gotten people excited when they are hearing the probability of having Terrell Pryor as the starting QB. “ The kid is good, we gonna prove the non-believers around the league, that he is not all about scrambling, he can throw the ball deep as well, and short and medium accuracy are things that can be corrected with a good OLine protection.”—these were the words of GM Betta as he was closing out his weekly press conference.
Win or lose this year, the future is bright for this Raiders team, their slogan this season is “Why not us?” and this is something that has Al Davis very enthusiastic, he even went out on a limp and bet with his Steelers counterpart a draft pick if the Raiders did not make the playoffs….When you hear stories like these, you can’t stop thinking yourself: “The old man has definitely something under the sleeve…”
